Background music feels more like foreground music (i.e. it’s quite loud), but other than that, I don’t have much to say at the moment since I haven’t watched many of these shows in a while. However, your mention of the ending of FMA (2003) was interesting because I also thought the ending of FMA: Brotherhood was kind of weak(shonen-y),as well. The main reason I didn’t watch it was due to some pretentiousness I felt about it not being like the manga (dumb ik) according to online sources.
