Absolutely loved this one. It started slow, but I was completely hooked by episode 26 or so. Both Reinhard and Yang Wenli were compelling characters. This is one that I found myself talking about all the time and, unlike other anime I talk about, people seemed genuinely interested! It’s a shame that it is not more readily available to stream because I think many missed out because it seemed odd to watch it off of the internet archive.
I’m sympathetic with the comment calling the latter parts contrived, but I was more surprised by how well it held my attention even after a certain character was out of the picture.
I would place it easily above Steins;Gate. Evangelion is better for sure. Death Note close. I haven’t watched Berserk, but I have read the manga—I’d say its incompleteness alone is a huge mark against it. Still need to finish FMA.

I still think Cowboy Bebop is the best Anime ever but it has some of my favorite music ever so idk.
LOGH was really really good until Reinhard won the Galactic war. Then it got a little contrived and lame imho.
