I hate the Zogslop trend of having the protagonist who's killed niggas not know what sex is/be afraid of women.

90% of everything is garbage, this isn't unique to anime since it applies to all genres and mediums.

Western film and TV kept up with gaislop ten or twenty years ago, but several factors have severely dampened live-action’s ability to produce kino. Firstly, movies are skimping on the budget. They have to share the market with online video sharing websites, piracy is basically ubiquitous, and I don’t think movie streaming provides as much of an incentive to produce a good product as the theaters did. Better analytics have also made movies more homogenous, stuck culture yadda yadda, and perhaps the most underlooked issue is that white (+ Ashk) men are declining rapidly in Hollywood (Steve sailer writes about this). Women make boring movies without any action and minorities probably have less aptitude and produce worse flicks for this reason as well. Film snobs are on the rise too because people don’t read books anymore and of course they eat up these sort of snorefests. Historical and mythological films are also bad now because it all has to be gritted up. Also, DEI makes movies less immersive and actors/actresses are not as attractive as they used to be. They are now basically just theatre kids.

Anime still produces fantastical worlds and can express the dramatics of the blockbuster era and sometimes even produces effects that could not be produced live action in a satisfying way. You just have to ignore the mountains of garbage in the genre

the variance point is certaintly true but I think anime is a uniquely great medium because it can touch any topic without being limited to the type of Western cartoons (sitcoms, children's shows, or the rare adult swim show). This means it's much more creative. There's also the fact that themes from Eastern cultures further add to its creative potential
